How to measure correct shock length
I am at the point where I need to select rear shocks on my 57 3100 but am not sure how to measure for correct length and have no old shocks to compare to. It is currently on axle stands but can be set on the wheels. Sitting on the stands it is 20" from bolt to bolt where they mount.

Re: How to measure correct shock length
I had the same question when I put new shocks on mine (non stock suspension with 4" lift). I went to the store and found some that had the right mounting configuration and matching bolt to bolt length when in the middle of the travel. Before I measured some trucks that were close so the counter guy had a place to start. This was at a local specialty 4wd place, not a run of the mill auto box store.
