Re: I made a set of OEM-style billet dash knobs

I got the lighter knob made today to round out the look. I planned on making a plug, since I don't smoke, but I tried what fatboys69 said, and I was able to screw a lighter apart so it is fully functional. Great tip, Thanks!

Re: I made a set of OEM-style billet dash knobs

Speaking of billet, I machined a chevy logo for the air cleaner nut, I'll post a pic of it, I've gotten alot of comments on it, the knobs look cool, the only trouble with aluminum, is when you polish it, especially 6061, I made a heater core blank off, and polished the hell out of it, and it kept revealing pits, probably should of used a better quality aluminum, but this was free, just my 2 cents,

Are you sure it was 6061 T6. You can polish this stuff to look like chrome, and it has no porosity. Maybe you just got a bad piece of bar stock. The only problem I have with the mirror polished aluminun is fingerprints and smudging. I leave just a little bit of a brushed look to cut down on that.

Re: I made a set of OEM-style billet dash knobs

could you match the door lock knobs to the look of the tops of these? Also, what about a billet door handle and window crank....the window crank could have the same knob as well.
