voltage regulator question

Has anyone ever checked the ohm reading from the two outside terminals on the regulator. If you turn the stock regulator over there is a ceramic resistor between this two wires. I just wondered if you gutted the regulator and just plugged in these two wires if the resistance would be correct for a cs alt upgrade. Then it would still look factory but actually just loopling the wires inside the regulator.
