Re: Wood floor to steel floor?
I did this in my 69,I found a 80 something F@#D truck that had a nice floor in it.then got the measurements from my bed.Seems like it was 55" x 74" took a plasma cutter and cut away.Made the neds a lttle longer so I could grind them smooth and make it look nicer as you will see the 2 ends (tailgate and header)the sides will be covered up by the angle strips. Then I coated it up with some Herculiner.I went to Home Depot and got some carriage bolts and mounted it to the cross sills just like it allways was. Will more than likely do it to the Apache

Re: Wood floor to steel floor?
Depending on wether you are hauling or not a sheet of polished diamond plate looks great as a bed floor.

Re: Wood floor to steel floor?
Check out some of my old posts (search "bondobob"). I used steel replacement panels over a 1" by 1" square tube framework on my '57. It's raised in the front to clear a 20 gallon gas tank and the frame steps. Lot's of welding but I didn't want wood. FYI: I'm getting back on the truck project after a 3 year layoff. (Divorce, move, buy house, add to garage)
edit: Can't seem to find any of my old posts. Is this normal? Last edited by bondobob; 11-22-2010 at 02:00 PM. |
