S10 swappers - inner fender pics please
I'd like to see final or at least close to final cuts on the inner fenders from a front shot without the grill. The other shot that wold be helpful would be an engine bay shot without the engine, just inner fenders bolted up and positioned properly. Thanks!

Vintage I'll try to help you out, I just did this, it will be tomorrow. I just got my front radiator support built and have my inner fenders in, but I am far from done and sorry I'm not pulling my engine for that shot. I did look through a lot of peoples build picture and got an idea of how I wanted it.

come on rootbeer...pull the engine like I asked, it's just 2 bolts! Are you using the stock radiator or aluminum radiator?

For us less talented folk using free child labor this is what we did, We followed the opening for the original steering box and cut along the first line in the panel, we did the right side first and it didn't turn out as well, divers side turned out pretty good.

Re: S10 swappers - inner fender pics please
rooster, are you using the stock radiator, or going with an aftermarket. Does the supports on the grill clear your frame rails? On my test fit the bump against it. I would move the cab forward, but it is centered on the wheels. I would cut more of the front frame rail, but it is cut right were others have cut theirs. Didn't know if welding some flat stock was required and just cutting the orignal supports off was necessary.

Vintage
this is the stock radiator and how much to the bottom, 19" is the norm and were it will fit, running a electric fan I will have plenty of room. I will have to run an aftermarket, jegs and summit have them 156 or so. one more thing to keep in mind mine is setting a little higher so if your is lower you might need to do more trimming. Re: S10 swappers - inner fender pics please
would the stock radiator and electric fan provide enough cooling for a 350 v8or should I just go to jegs and give them more of my hard earned money for aluminum one?

Re: S10 swappers - inner fender pics please
We are using a stock radiator on our 327 .060" over with a stock V8 fan. I tilted the bottom of the radiator out to clear the S10 steering box. No overheating issues thus far. I had a radiator shop open the top outlet pipe up a size.

Re: S10 swappers - inner fender pics please
Not sure if you could get a stock one to fit unless you leaned if forward at the bottom.I figure 150 to keep from burning up an engine is good insurance, We have a radiator shop in town that might be able to build one for me but I doubt it would be cheaper than $150.
I guess 150 doesn't seem like much to me cause I had to spend $300 for my wifes Tahoe a few years ago.I understand using as many old parts as possible cause I ain't got a whole lot to spend, If I hadn't found this site I would not be doing my build this saved me a bunch. |

Re: S10 swappers - inner fender pics please
I have to second (or third) what Texas and Blue jeep said it took me 2-3 week to get the front end done I was beginning to wonder if is was going to get done it wasn't easy. I am very glad guys like Blue Jeep and Jeff's 51(I think he was the one that posted the frame mounts) posted their builds it has been a big help. I want to help the fellow builders as much as possible.
