Looks like a 4"/6" drop, to me.

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
thanks lolife. I always have a hard time guessing the drops - I do want to lower mine, but not very much - I really like the stance on the one in this picture, but I was guessing (hoping) it would have been less than 4/6 (but liek I said, I just don't know, so that's why I was asking). I was leaning toward a 1/3 so I could keep the stock shocks - and not make it real obviously lowered - but I also think a 1/3 drop wouldn't really show much of a change at all. Seems like 3/5 is the most common, at least of the ones I've seen where they actually stated what the drop was.
While I know a 3/5 will require new shocks to match the springs, but is there anything else needed for a 3/5 besides shocks (and the springs of course) - at what drop does one start nibbling on c-notch territory? Thanks again! |

A 3/5 drop will require a set of rear shock relocators and an adjustable panhard bar for the rearend.

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
HEY - is this the same truck (pre-serious lowering??) I think I just posted this same truck in another thread???!
On second glance - I don't think it is the same truck (even pre-lowering) - but it sure is cool... Last edited by jocko; 11-23-2010 at 09:21 PM. |

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
thanks lolife. but WOW, if that "stock ride height" pic is actually the stock ride height, then I'm already lowered... yikes. Actually, mine is stock, and it sure doesn't look like that pic. But the other 2 pics in your link help me out a lot - thanks very much , good to see those for comparison so I can choose accordingly. Now I see why you estimated a 4/6 drop for my first post - and I'd have to agree. Possibly a 3/5, but I think you're probably correct. Thanks again!
Sure is hard to decide to lower a darn nice stock truck!!!!!!!!! Last edited by jocko; 11-23-2010 at 09:26 PM. |

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
Do it! ha.
Those stock pics are with "new" stock height springs installed. Not 40+ year old stock springs. Enjoy the truck like you like it. But,... I like mine lowered.

That is the same truck after Bill Steele and RPM hotrods tricked it out. My favorite c-10 Owned by Fritz c10addict on this site.

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
Yeah that does look like the same truck before a wheel swap and serious slamming. Damn close if it isn't.

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
thanks lolife, good point on the "new" springs - I bet that is exactly the case. And, I agree!! Drive it like you stole it, as they say (i.e. do what you want if you like it). As long as I don't c-notch it, it can always be taken back to stock.
thanks for the ID on the slammed 64 kart34 - i THOUGHT they were the same truck, before and after - then I saw one had a tinted window - but of course they could have done that too! Regardless - it's a sweet truck - or they are 2 sweet trucks... I think I like the "before" look though - but either way is awesome. Rich5150 - so your truck is 3/5 I take it? Thanks very much for posting the pic - that's what I really need is reference photos with the drop specs. I have seen some of the threads on here - and they help too. Much appreciated. Your truck looks GREAT by the way. Saving that pic for my own ref to 3/5. Thanks all - very helpful. -jocko |

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
jocko, you put 1" drop springs in and you will probably see no difference, it may even lift it a little. Your old springs no doubt have a fair amount of sag.

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
EXCELLENT gouge, rich5150, thank you. Good to know 4/6 requires no c-notch. And I always wondered what the stock rake was - the article said approx 3 inches and that sounds about right.
71swb4x4 - I bet you're right. I think I've ruled out the 1/3 drop approach. I'm thinking 2.5/4 or 3/5. Last edited by jocko; 11-23-2010 at 10:44 PM. |

Re: anyone have any details on this sweet little truck....?
willyp- BEAUTIFUL! I've seen a few of your buld threads, but haven't seen the truck in awhile - liek the wheel/tire combo you went with. One question - are those 70 series or 60 series 235/255s? I assume 70, but wanted to confirm. thanks for posting.
