Throttle cable help please!

ok, We took the carb off in doing some maintinence to my truck, I thought we got everything how it was supposed to be. I had to have someone come and time my truck (sorry guys, I just didnt have the mental strength to attempt it) The guy said that we have the throttle mounted wrong. I have older pics of my carb, it looks like it is where it always has been. But this spring.... where in the heck does it go? I know it holds tension for the throttle. Does it look right otherwise... what am I doing wrong??

thanks so much!!

Re: Throttle cable help please!

It should connect to something towards the back. It's used to pull the throttle closed.

The solenoid in the picture for the A/C or is that part of the old emissions?

Re: Throttle cable help please!

You might try to connect the throttle cable to the upper hole in the carb linkage (for lack of a better word). The spring should be connected to a brace/bracket that is either mounted to the rear mounting bolt on the carb or to a bracket mounted to the intake manifold. I would take a picture but I changed the throttle linkage to a Lokar system.

My solenoid was for the transmission controlled spark setup (or whatever it's called) but I think the solenoid was used for A/C units also.

Re: Throttle cable help please!

Jodie,

Looks to me like these two brackets are wrong. The cable should be horizontal, like in Sport/Truck's pic, not angled...

Re: Throttle cable help please!

It looks like the right bracket, just mounted to the wrong place. It should be under the rear stud of the carburetor's base plate. That will put the return spring's mounting hole down where it belongs. Then the other end of the spring goes into a hole in the lower part of the throttle linkage.
