THANKS Everyone, I'm getting a lot of people slowing down driving by my place the last 2 days, looking at it and they have no idea what it is
Thanks to all of you for your comments and helpful insight, Randy

Thanks Denny, its a different one thats for sure. Visors are parchment. I thought it was weird having the blue plaid bench seat on the spid. Randy

Thanks Randy for buying this rare truck .. From all the reading on it I sorta feel like part owner.. LOL ,,Really,,I and others would of never come close to seeing this rare truck and chatting about all the options if you hadn't bought it for us.. Plus it now sticks in my mind that there were 3 different pkgs of Longhorns..

Do you think you could send it around to all of us and let us autograph it like that that chicken of ET's ? of course we would have to sign it on the frame so not to ruin the Eagle Decal.. just kidding ,,I like that you are going to shelf it for awhile before deciding what to do with it ..GP Larry

Powerbench, THANKS its growing on me, I wasn't sure how I'd like the stripes. This is my first 2wd truck I've bought to drive since I was in high school and that was 27 years ago

Re: Montana to Kansas the EAGLE has landed

Dang Randy, I dunno...I would consider keepin the 8 track and CB..just for posterity..If not-throw em in a box-I'll pay shipping! If I were in your shoes and had a decal set that much intact I would go down to a lettering shop and have them make a new one using yours as a guide out of vinyl. May be worth something to someone..heck, maybe you could start reproducing them...?! Just a thought..super sweet score, my man.

Randy, the truck looks awesome! If I were you I would detail it, get it running and cruise it one summer. Then decide what to do with it.

Re: Montana to Kansas the EAGLE has landed

Hey Randy, Got your PM.
I don't think I can add much to what has been said.
One code for the highlander is YG8.
Mine (1972) actually says YG8 with a blank discription. It is a group C

For a 3/4 ton it should have chrome hub caps, door edge guards and the upper trim (group A).
Everything else looks correct for the highlander except no spid code. I assume the visors and dash pad are both black. The upper trim could have been deleted due to the added decal.

I did not think that the plaid seat came in anything but a highlander although this is one unique truck.

I think more research is needed.

Re: Montana to Kansas the EAGLE has landed

Randy, You have a Fremont California built truck so there is a very good chance you have the original build sheet behind the seat back or under the seat. Mark

Re: Montana to Kansas the EAGLE has landed

Mark, good call but it was between the gas tank cover and tank, Found 4 more 8 tracks too!!!!! This thing still has the clear plastic over the seat belts under the seat and the seat slides forward with ease, not my kind of truck
Larry, thats a good idea on passing it around BUT

Neat, I have a 72 Cheyenne Super SWB with the Feathers decal on it. Do you happen to have any paperwork from the dealer showing the Eagle decal install on it? These were not installed at the factory as far as I know.

Thanks

Bob

Re: Montana to Kansas the EAGLE has landed

As mark said, fremont, it seems alot of those trucks ended up with the build sheet saved... my brothers 72 still has the original build sheet with it as well, and it ended up a long way from fremont- other side of the country Truck is too cool. Little girl was looking at it with me and now she wants one, when I told her I had the stickers in her closet she wanted to get them out to look, mind you she is three so we shall see how cool they are when she turns 15/16 Great buy, cool stuff with it, you are going to like this truck! Drive it to work and see what kind of looks you get- you know what I mean. Harold
