Tilt Wheel Shift Indicator Light Bulb

Classic Bowties (Mel) wrote a very good procedure to change the shift indicator bulb in a tilt wheel. The procedure worked great but I cannot find in any manual (service or owner's) what the bulb number is. Many of the small bulbs are 194 but I would like to know if someone knows for sure. BTW I nearly broke my white plastic indicator off when I tried to take the PRNDL housing off. I used to wonder why most tilt wheel had the indicator broken off and now I know at least one of the culprits.

Re: Tilt Wheel Shift Indicator Light Bulb

The info I looked up on the 1495 claims it is a 28v bulb. I now suspect it is a 1445.

Re: Tilt Wheel Shift Indicator Light Bulb

Here it is. The original question was related to a non-tilt fiber-optic line and morphed into info on changing the bulb in a tilt column. BTW this worked very well.

Re: Tilt Wheel Shift Indicator Light Bulb

The 1445 bulb works perfectly! I did however fail to make a mental note of the orientation of the slot in the metal bulb cover and had to use a mirror to figure it out during reassembly. This note should be added to the procedure. Thankfully this bulb is rated for 1000 hrs of use (should be good for the next 36 years or so). I could have changed 8 spark plugs in the time it took me to change 1 little light bulb.

I am going to have to check mine out...it does not work either. It did for a while, but hasn't in years now.
