Wondering if anyone has any experience with these? I'm looking at putting a 177 on my built 383 when I get done with the truck build. The engine is around 504 hp/490 tq at the crank. Just wondering what to expect with about 6 lbs of boost. Their website says 25-40% but I don't ever trust those numbers. I know smeding, my engine manufacturer, puts the 6-71 on the 383 if you want to order it that way but I don't really want to cut a hole in my hood. Any thoughts or info would help. Thanks in advance.

Theres way too many variables to give you a cut and dry answer. 30-40% gain is definately not out of the question with that little baby blower. They work great but what is your compression ratio? What kind of parts do you have in the bottom end? Your bottom end will likely be fine at 500hp but your going to be creeping up on 700hp with that little blower. You start coming into issues of the block holding up crank,rods and pistons as well. 500 and 650-700hp are worlds apart in the sense of the parts needed to make it last. Forced induction is always harder on parts just in itself.

I would run some forged pistons before i put much boost through it. The Hypereutectic will turn into sand.
That engine combo put up those number?

No it's not that combo exactly, I just pulled that off Smeding's site to give everyone an idea what the motor was like, I didn't have my build sheet in front of me at the time

The heads stated are tiny. Even for a 350 a 170cc chamber is small. Thats the same size as the stock vortec heads. Flow over .500 lift is going to not be that great. With a 383 generally you dont go any smaller than 180cc and for a performance build usually in the 195-200cc range. At 10-1 compression your really pushing it even with a baby blower. If you want it to live a long and happy life your best bet is to leave it alone.
