Looking for a picture...

Hey guys, I normally hang over on the 60-66 boards, but since the totalling of my current DD I am in the market for a new one. I'm looking for a 2000-2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4, and was hoping someone here might be able to post up a picture for me. I'd like to do just a 2" leveling kit and put some 33" tires on the truck, but would like to see what it looks like. If there is anyone here who has a pic or two that shows this stance well, and has a few minutes to post, I'd really appreciate it. I'm having a hard time finding the pics I am looking for through the searches. Thanks

Re: Looking for a picture...

Here's a couple pics of my '02 Z71. It has 285/55/R20 tires on it that are about 32.5'' tall. The suspension is stock as far as I know, but the PO may have cranked up the torsion bars. Hope this helps.

I think you've got it right on the head. I'll be running a 15"x10" wheel with 33"x12.5" tires so that should be right about where mine will sit (if I end up with one). Thanks a lot man.

Hey Nate, do you experience any rubbing from your front tires?

Re: Looking for a picture...

Not a truck but here is my tahoe, the wheels/tires are 305/40/22 and measure 32" tall by 12.5" wide. They are a little shorter than you mentioned but close. My hoe is sitting at stock height and is a 4WD, there is no real rubbing, but when I back up with the wheels turned tight one of the inner fenders drag on the tire a little. If I screwed the inner flap in a little tighter it wouldn't drag, but just hasn't been important enough for me to mess with. Either that or I could crank the t-bars and it would clear a little bigger tire, but I'm considering going the other way and dropping it. Hope this helps you out!

Wow, who woulda thought such a small side wall could be such a tall tire. That's a whole lot of rim you got there bud. Very cool, thanks.

Nope, they don't rub at all. I've driven this truck over all sorts of rough terrain, cranking the wheel to the extremes and haven't had any issues with rubbing. Also, the rims are 20x9 with a +15 offset if that helps.

Cool, thanks. I think my 15x10's might push out a little more than your 20's but the back-spacing on my wheels is only about 4". Sounds like I should be just fine with this route. I've never been into jacking a truck way into the sky, I just need enough tire to get through my terrain, and enough lift to clear the tire. Sounds like my plan should work great, thanks again. Now I just need to wait for the insurance company....

Re: Looking for a picture...

Fryer, i just realized you said a 15'' rim. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure anything smaller than the stock 16'' rim will hit the brake caliper on these trucks. Anyone know for sure?

Re: Looking for a picture...

I've seen a few guys using 15" ralleys from the K5 blazers on them, so I assumed they would work. If it is a minor clearance issue, I'm not afraid to shave a little metal to make it work. Otherwise I would just buy a set of new 16" wheels, and buy tires for the 16's. I just have a set of 15x10 Mickey Thompsons in my shop I was going to use. Not a huge deal, just tires are a LOT more expensive.

Man, I understand! Tires cost a lot. Thats just something that I have heard from a couple friends but don't know for sure. Hope it works out for you!

Re: Looking for a picture...

Meh, either way I'll know for sure once I pick up a new truck. It'll only take a minute to pull the existing wheel, then slap on my rim to see if it works. It may be a few weeks before I get a new truck, but I'll let ya know how it goes. Thanks again.
