rebuilding Transfer Case

I am finally getting started on my 70 Blazer. Just had a question or two about the drivetrain. I will be rebuilding the engine and tranny soon and would like to know if you can rebuild the transfer case? And where is the best place to get these parts (for the transfer case)

Next question. I have a closed knuckle front axel in it now. I also have an open knuckle out of a 72 Blazer in the shop. What all in involved in swapping the two? Is it worth the effort? Will the turning radius improve?

If I do the axel swap I will swap the rear end too. The 72 Blazer had a 4 inch lift. So, I will have to get BIGGER tires (Yee-Haw). I think I can get the wife to go for that LOL.

I know that you can rebuild a T-case, parts are probably available the same places you'd go for the tranny parts. I'm not too sure about the other stuff.

Thanks for the info CEDJUNIOR. I'll have to check with the people I'm getting the tranny rebuild kit from. Anybody else know anymore 'bout this or the axels questions?

The axles are a direct bolt-in swap. You will get a better turning radius with the open knuckle axle, as well as disc brakes. Well worth the effort to swap 'em out.
