Thumbs up Picked up my '72 Jimmy Tuesday!!! :D

Newbie here!!
Was out looking for an 87-91 K5 when I ran across my prize! 1972 GMC Jimmy 4x4, in almost mint condition! I couldn't pass it up. Hope to have pix soon.

I wasn't really wanting to spend as much as I did, but sure couldn't help it when I saw this machine. And I get quite a few looks in it going down the road.

She's white with white top, rally wheels, brown interior, factory a/c, 350, spare tire inside, tilt steering

One question, what's the throttle knob/button for on the dash cluster?

BTW, great site!!

Welcome. The throttle knob should have a cable that attaches to your gas pedal linkage. It's purpose is not a "poor mans" cruise control, or to help "warm up" a cold engine.

The purpose is to increase and hold engine rpms. This is useful when running a PTO off the transfer case/tranny or if you have any equipment run off a hydraulic belt driven pump in the engine compartment (such as a snow plow blade). It allows you to exit the cab while retaining the desired RPM's.

The original owner must have had a purpose for wanting the Jimmy equipped that way. If you want to delete it, you can buy a new bezel and remove the knob and cable. Be sure to save all parts for resale as there is a small demand for these on the board.

I may be interested in it myself.

CPNE, I'm not changing a thing on my '72, so sorry but the parts are staying on the dash, even if it does/doesn't work. But thanks for the info!
Just a quick note, my insurance lady said she'd cover it up to $12,850, according to NADA value!! That made me feel like I got a good deal, considering what I paid for it!! But I'll never tell!!! hahaha

No problem. I just didn't want to see it get junked in the event you decided to remove it.

Where do I find build #'s, and GMC owner's manuals? All's I can find is Cheby stuff. Isn't the Jimmy a little more rare, than an equal Blazer?
Like I said, Im a newbie to the '67-'72 family, although my dad still has his original '72 Cheby LWB ½ton!
