6 lug to 5 lug brakes

Hey Guys,

I have a 72 5 lug rearend and a 69 6 bolt rearend. The brake parts on the 5 lug are garbage but the brake parts on the 6 lug are great. I know the shoes, drums and wheel cylinders are different but what about the remainder of the hardware and backing plates? In an effort to save some bucks are they interchangeable? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: 6 lug to 5 lug brakes

If the shoes are different widths, this means the backing plates are different. Go with shoes that match the backing plate and drums that match the shoes, This will work if both rears are the same type, like a 12 bolt. If one of them is a Dana, don't even bother trying.
