It's probably a hole in the gas tank filler neck around/near the gasket. And when you turn your causing the gas to slush around and create fumes which are entering the cab. I patched mine no more gas smell. It maybe stronger when the windows are up or down I don't remember.

That's odd. Mine smells after making a right turn out of a Taco Bell!

On a serious note, the above suggestion seems to be the place to start.

Yea, pull your seat up and check the lines on top real good, happened to mine also. The vent hose dry-rotted and was leaking barely.

Since yours is a 68 you shouldn't have a vent to the gas tank only a filler neck. Might be a good time to move the tank to under the bed.

Funny. Mine smells about 5-6 hours after leaving the Taco Bell.....

Take the cardboard liner off the gas tank, and turn a courner on a cool day. Then get out and check the tops of the tank. I bet both sides will be wet.

Before taking things apart and messing around I would suggest replacing the gas cap for starters. The gasket gets compressed after a while and fumes leak out. Its summer now and heat will cause expansion in the tank.

My tank has two lines that exit the top part of the tank on the passenger side of the truck. Which line does what, I Where does each line go, AND if I blow into each hose, what should happen? Backpressure? Free flowing???

1 line is smaller the other a bit larger, Both run under the cab and alont the frame on the right inside, and to the fuel pump, the larger of the 2 goes to the feed on the pump which out goes to the carb, the small goes tot he fuel pump too, not sure its function, maybe a return or vent.............
