Pickem-up Won't Start

Scratching my head...'70 350/5.7L/4BBL with MSD 6AL ignition box, coil, distributor, wires setup. Now the problem. Just installed a new steering colum and instrument cluster (speedo, fuel, voltage, oil, temp) original chevy with white face kit. Tach is separate, but was on prior to the change. After my upgrades, I started the truck it ran fine as usual. I move it, parking it back in usual driveway spot. Shut it off, then bam - it will not start, almost as if it in not in park. every function works fine (lights, radio, dual fan setup, etc...). When I turn the key, nothing, just the red brake (accessory light) no click, no turnover, no nothing. I also have a powermaster 100 amp alternator (internal voltage regulator). I did put a terminal block in with the above upgrades (jumping a 10 guage wire from the "ignition unfused" terminal on the fuse panel to the block to add accessories requiring an "ignition" only connection (fuse tap for glass fuses are becoming harder to find). My MSD 6AL is connected directly to the battery. I think thats my complete setup...? did I blow my internal voltage regulator in the alternator??? Or for some reason it's not in park. Tried putting it in neutral still the same.???

check neutral safty switch// try jumping the two purple wires if truck starts eith your NSSS is bad or needs adjustment

yeah, my first guess would be to try adjusting the neutral saftey switch a little.

why put in a new one b4 loosening screws and adjusting for proper operation????

As said by cdowns see if its out of adjustment. Also put a test light on the purple wire on the s terminal on the starter when you crank the engine you should have power if not it very well could be the safety switch or out of adjustment. If it has power on the wire you have a problem with the starter solenoid.

I agree, test before spending. As hayhauler71 said, see if you have power to that switch when you try to crank the engine over. If you get it there make a short jumper wire with two male slide wire ends and jump across it and see if the truck cranks and starts. Remember to always have it in park when you try that or the truck will start and take off on you. If that works see if the switch needs adjusting or replacing.
One more thing you can try if the backup lights worked before the problems is to move the gear shift lever to reverse with the key on and see if the backup lights come on. If they don't the little tit/tab on the back side of the switch that goes though the hole in the shift tube and works the switch is probably broken off. That is usually what goes wrong with those switches.

Thanks, the switch was actually broken. Came apart. Put new one and the switch broke apart again. Beginning to believe the slow is not quite centered. Adjusted the switch to make sure shifting was smooth. Thanks for all the suggestion....
