15x10 wheels on lowered '77
I recently purchased a nice '77 shortbox 2wd. I am going to be lowering it this winter. I am probably going with a 2.5/4 drop kit. I want to run 15x10's all the way around with 295/50-15 tires. The wheels I have been looking at are a 4" back space. Just windering if I will have any rubbing issues or if it is possible to go any lower. Say like a 4/6 or a 3/5 or something like that. Thanks very much for any info, and if anyone has any pics of a truck like this, please post.

In the front, the 295 will rub and good. Even a 275 will have issues. I run a 255/60/15 in front when I had 15x10 all around. Also, the tire will stick out from the wheel well front and rear with the 295 I believe. Just another thing to consider.

i found this pic. This is the look I am going for. It doesn't say, but I think he is running 295/50-15 tires. Not sure of the backspacing either.

Thank you. The tires are 265/50, the drop is just cut springs but if I had to guess it would be right around 5" drop. Never rubbed, but the crossmember does become an issue as it's pretty low to the ground.

Re: 15x10 wheels on lowered '77
I had the idea of putting these 295/50/15 wheels on my 78, but to me they do not fill up the wheel well enough. This is with a flip kit in the rear and 2 or 3 leafs removed. The axle is about 3/4 to 1 inch from the frame rails in this pic.

Those don't look like 295's or 15x10 wheels. What you have there definitely does not fill up the wheel well.
I found this pick on here. He has 15x10's with 295/50/15's and a 2.5/4 inch drop. I believe the wheels are 4 inch backspacing as well. |

That is my old c10 and I never had any rubbing issues at all with a 3/4 drop.

Re: 15x10 wheels on lowered '77
I wonder if there would be any problems with a 275/45-20 tire in the front with a 3" drop?

Your wheels are tucked in pretty good. I kinda wanted min to be out more. Kinda like the sidewalls to be flush with the fenders.

I have a set of 15 X 10 wagon wheels I was planning on throwing on the back. Any issues with a 6" drop in the rear?????

Here is an old pic of my buddies truck. 15x8 front and 15x10 rear corvette rallye's. It's lowered with 2.5 inch spindles/one cut coil in front and a flip kit in the rear.

Re: 15x10 wheels on lowered '77
I think I should be safe with a 2.5-3/4" drop and 4" backspace wheels with the 295/50-15's. I was looking at these wheels below. I guess the worst that could happen, is that I have to buy smaller front tires. I was kinda hoping to have all 4 the same. I could just get 2 mounted and put them on the front to see if they rub before I buy the other 2 tires.
