Re: How do you hoist your bed off?

I have used a cherry picker and it works quite well but the best way is to buy a case of beer and help will come!

Re: How do you hoist your bed off?

Oh and the way i did it was took a chain and bolted it to the bed rail holes the PO had from a topper, one just infront of the wheel hub and one just behind. It worked out well but it wasn't perfectly balanced.

Re: How do you hoist your bed off?

My engine lift wouldnt fit quite to the middle of the bed, so I used copper wire, #12 I had lying around. When doubled up its pretty strong. To the four corners of the bed.

Re: How do you hoist your bed off?

When I use my engine hoist to lift it in the past, when lifted the side of the bed would just barely hit the ram, so I got a longer piece of 2x2 metal (1/8" wall) drilled a couple of holes to make it about 6" longer, and lifted it that way. Worked great.

I built a 2x4 "H" that hooks under the bed rails to lift from.

Re: How do you hoist your bed off?

My bed is fully shaved, no pockets anywhere and just painted, i don't know if the weight of the bed making an H beam might crack the paint from stress under the bed rails? Just making sure....

Didn't hurt my paint, just put a sponge on the lift angle iron. This is the attachment that I used on my truck, cab and bed was a 1 person job. Here is their website. http://www.spiderpullingmachine.com/...ifterdelux.htm

Re: How do you hoist your bed off?

I know the pic is dark, but what I did was use 2 2x4's the length of the bed, tucked them under the railing to keep from scratching the paint. I then tied them together with 2 1 1/2 inch square tube cross bars. I used eye hooks near each end, and then ran straps to my cherry picker.
