Tire and wheel size suggestion

I'm trying to decide what size of rims and tires to get for my truck. It currently has 15" rim with 35" tires. I want to go a bit narrower and not as tall than what is currently on it. I'm thinking about 33" with 16" M/T classic II rims.

Also plan on reducing the lift and cutting down the rear lifting block, it is way too tall.

Any suggestions on brand/model of tires, tire sizes and rim backspacing?

I have always thought the M/T Classic IIs looked real good. As far as tire suggestions...well, I'm fairly partial to Toyo rubber (if someone else is buying) or old stand-bys like Groundhawgs.

Beautiful truck, and I think those wheels would be a good choice, clean & classy without the fake rivets & bling that some wheels have. If you won't be doing much actual off-roading with such a nice truck, tire choice boils down to what looks good to you. For all-around use on a 4x4, I like BFG All-Terrain T/A KO. They list three different sizes in 33" tall range (285/75, 295/75, and 305/70).

Nice truck! With 16" wheels and wanting narrower I's say give 255/85s a look.They are about an inch narrower than 285/75s and about an inch taller.They are about as close as you can come to the traditional 9.00-16s which is what the WWII omnidirectional military rubber was.Goodyear made an Extra Traction and Coop made the Grip Spur,among others.Maxxis makes a mudder-type and BFG makes them,too.Not sure if in both M/Ts and A/Ts.If you want a bit more beef,the 285/75s are the same proportions and a scale down from 12.50/35s.In 15" BFG makes 10.50/33s and should be mounted on 8" rims,the same for those 16" sizes.But,they will work on stock width as well.

TireRack lists only one tire in that size -- BFG Mud Terrain. They show rim size from 6.5" to 8", with a measured (for their specs) 7" rim width. I would assume 7" is also the preferred width.

They work fine on stock steel wheels.I agree that 7" is probably ideal and 8 would work fine.

The M/T's or the ones in your last picture are the only wheel mfgs that even come close to the alum slots..

Lakeroadster, what is the outside diameter of your spare? I am looking for one of those fenders for when I move my fuel tank and I was wondering what is the maximum tire diameter it will clear.

I would do the 3 5/8" myself..
