WTB: Motor mounts.
Looking for big block motor stands/perches for my '69. I've got a pair but they ended up being for a '73-'91. Thought they might work. The holes on the frame lined up but the ones on the crossmember did not.
Thanks in advance, Danny |

Re: WTB: Motor mounts.
Teeitup,
School me here. I was told I would want the "new style" stands so I could use the late model mounts. What exactly is the difference? I owned a '72 a few years ago but it already had a V8 so I didn't have to deal with any of this. I did a SBC to BBC swap in a '84 without any issues with stands/mounts. The engine I'm installing is a TBI 454 out of a 3500 Silverado. Does that make a difference st all? Danny |

Re: WTB: Motor mounts.
I had a 454 big block in my 72 and these were the stands that it was mounted to. I have them for sale for $50 shipped if you are interested.

Re: WTB: Motor mounts.
Danny, I'm not sure on that I've never did the swap before, I just part out 67-72 trucks. These are original 68-71 Big block stands, 72 stands are different look alot like 73-80 motor stands but holes are closer together and let the motor sit lower I believe. The ones 72 Longhorn has a pic of are 67-72 Small block stands. Thanks Randy

Re: WTB: Motor mounts.
Just ran into this whole motor mount ordeal on a wrecked 71 big block truck. the problem isn't really finding the correct stands-try locating the actual rubber mount that bolts to the engine. i ended up with the 72 style 'cradle" mount. Works great header clearance is good-even with 2 1/8" primary tubes.

Re: WTB: Motor mounts.
Also check the FAQ, TXFirefighter has a thread on using small block rubbers with big block stands http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=122645

Re: WTB: Motor mounts.
I have done a similiar swap like TXfirefighter, but my main concern was relying on a 7/16" bolt in a 1 1/8" hole to keep things where they needed to be. The original BBC mounts used a metal sleeve and a lower "half" similiar to a bellhousing mount for a MT. I cut 2 squares of 3/16 plate, drilled a 1/2" hole in the center and installed it on the under side of the stand. Once the engine was in and level I tacked them in place. This keeps any twisting from engine torque from maiking the engine lean to the drivers' side. Sounds extreme, but with a 526cid, I need all the help I can get.
