My 04 Silverado is leaking above the gas tank.

I have no idea where this is coming from, maybe one of you could help me out. It is on the inner back corner of the fuel tank and it seem to be on the under side of the bed as well.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

that would be the pinion seal at the yoke on the rear dif. i bet if you reach under there and grap the yoke and drive shaft you can move it up and down mean the pinion bearing is wore out and will need to be replaced as will the seal

nope require complete disassemble of the rear diff and a few special tools if the bearing is bad, if the seal you can remove the yoke and replace the seal but you have to get the backlash set back right on the yoke

Possibly a good time to look into a new differential carrier unit if you can spare the extra coin... perhaps a Detroit Truetrac
