Manifold to Carb Gasket

My rebuilt q-jet has been sitting on my bench for a couple of weeks now and I think Monday I will have a chance to reinstall it. My question is, are you supposed to use any kind of gasket cement on the manifold to carb gasket? My old one did not seem to have any whatsoever. In fact, there was very little residue left on my manifold, and the old gasket came off with ease in one piece. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Re: Manifold to Carb Gasket

Just use the gasket no sealer or silicone recommended

Re: Manifold to Carb Gasket

I use the red sealer myself. I bet many on here think that is crazy. I rather spend 5 minutes cleaning the intake and carb when I take it off than have a pesky vacuum leak. That is my .02
