Re: I need help now !!!!!!!!!

The original problem occurred in a warm vehicle. Fifteen minute drive. Stopped for gas. Back in truck. No Start. No Sound i.e. clicks. Nothing. Vehicle was towed. Sat in 15 degree weather for the night. No miracle in the morning. Starter pulled and taken to auto parts store where it "passed". So initial failure was while truck was warm. Been below 20 degrees ever since.

I can't offer anything that hasn't already been said here (wiring, switches, battery, cables, etc.), but I wish you the best of luck. Maybe try the solenoid before replacing the starter or ignition switch. Cheap, somewhat easier alternative, and it might help the starter. Mine cost about $18.

Re: I need help now !!!!!!!!!

On the '74 the solenoid is attached to the starter. So without "finding" another suspect, a $40 starter/solenoid combo will be the first shot-in-the-dark.

Re: I need help now !!!!!!!!!

Ok, it just so happens the last few days I've had a similar problem with my truck, after a few hours diagnosing today, I discovered it was my ignition switch, looks like this

It's on the steering column. I had the same issue you had, everything work but when I went to start it, nothing. Is you key harder to turn then normal? This could be your problem.

Re: I need help now !!!!!!!!!

Gotta remove the heating duct that runs under the column, take off the little upper and lower column panels (one plastic lower part of dash, one part metal under the column), take two bolts off that hold the column to the dash and reach up under and take it off. Some advise pulling the column, but I've done it upside-down with a flashlight, so meh.
