What is the secret to putting hood springs on the hinges?

This is the way I do it. The hinge is opened up and layed on a piece of carpet. I position it so that if the spring comes off during installation, I won't be in the way of it. I place one foot on the hinge, hook one end of the spring to the lower end and using my Snapon brake spring tool, I leverage the spring onto the other end. The tool has a little hook on it that keeps the tool in place as you leverage the spring on. This works very well and it is quick.

There are other ways of doing it but for me this has worked for a long time.
