wheres my rattle coming from??

so my dad's 99 2500 rattles when you go over bumps. first noticed when they replaced the brakes. heres the thing..when you press on the brakes the rattling stops. had the dealership go over the brakes again and everything was in order. its been rattling for about 10,000 miles now. anyone else have this problem?

Loose front shocks are a common rattle on the front of the GMT800 Silverado’s but that noise wouldn’t really change when stepping on the brakes.

I recently installed this kit on my neighbor's 2003 Silvy 1500 4x4 to shut up the front brake rattles. I bet the guys that did the brake job lost, damaged or just didn't install the anti-rattle clips correctly.

Napa part number 83258A $16.00. This kit covers both sides.

Re: wheres my rattle coming from??

maybe it is your upper intermediate steering shaft. GM has a new updated version to correct it. TO verify this is the problem. Take the bolt loose where the upper shaft meets the lower shaft and push the upper shaft in and out about 5 times. This will redistribute the grease and quiet it down for a few more thousand miles. It shouldnt make a difference if your on the brakes or not tho

Re: wheres my rattle coming from??

it has been checked out twice since the job was done. once right after, and we had them check it again at inspection time.
