Ok I did a overdrive swap on my truck and told my friend about it but he has a 4 speed low granny and wants to keep it stick. The question is what is easy tranny he can put on his and not hard to find not too expensive? It's a 72 6 cyl 292

I put an S-10 5 speed in my 6 cyl '67. Works great and is really easy if you buy the spacer plate. There are quite a few threads on here about it.

The easiest way to see the threads that pertain to it is to type in - s10 5 speed - in the Google search box at the top of the page, click the circle in front of "67-72chevytrucks.com" and then click on the Google button.

The S10 5 speed is great for swaps like that. They are cheap & plentiful. On the 68 up with the SM465 4 speed the center hole in the bell houseing is larger. You will need an older bell housing.

I agree with these guys. A 5 speed from a S-10 would be the easiest and cheapest to get in there.

Question, does the s10 bolt right up to the drive shaft? Does anyone have any pictures?.

So what i am in the process of putting a 4 speed with an overdrive. a new process 833 overdrive out of i believe an 83 diesel. Has a hurst shifter also.
