help! .....wiper problem!........ help!

im going crazy trying to figure out the problem..im finishing a complete body off restoration of my 72 cheyenne hugger 1/2 ton truck.installed nos wire harness, all brand new gm stuff. ...... so i installed the new wiper motor and it doesnt work.? i re installed the old one and it doesnt work. i removed the old one and tried to bench test it. when i turn the shaft then touch the wires to it (hot/ground) it starts up and runs the shaft 1/2 turn,i turn the shaft back 1/2 turn and touch the wires to it again it will turn 1/2 turn again. so i figured out the 1/2 turn is only a "return", but i cant get it to make a complete round. it is a 2 termanal plus ground. i have nos wire/fuse/switch/motor.
im still in dash assembly stage. ............. any ideas?

the wiper should have constant hot, and is turned on by adding the ground. That may be the problem on the bench test.

yote i have a similiar problem with mine also mine just stopped and i followed the bench test in the thread above and its ok ire=installed and nothing again. i wont drive it much in the winter so its sitting till i work on it again. on another thread mentioned about a "ground strap" from the motor to the firewall to ground the motor. below is another helpful thread.

from the w/w motor to a scew close by, as i understood it thats how the w/w motor is grounded to work as it mounts are rubber but this info may be year specific i have a 67 and didnt find any, another said that the switch acts as a ground when you turn your knob the ground takes effect hope others will give their opinion on this ground thing im not a pro at all this myself just trying to help out here, good luck

Is the strap coming off the wiper motor to the upper screw in place? Be sure the ground is pluged in and have you tested with test light to see if you are getting power flow through the wiring harness? I had problem with 68 and actually had bad wiper motor, would wiggle, but nothing else, left it on for few seconds and it got red hot (litterally). Be careful, it can burn your new resto down.
