Just 1 more Dear

Well found a 56 3800 Chevy close by with very min. rust,I think the reason is that it has a homemade overhead camper on it.Now I am trying to figure out how to get it home with out the camper.Truck has no motor but has the auto trans not really into the ton series was thinking of taking cab and front clip off and hauling the rest to scrap yard. Then selling off the parts to help fund my 58 project, what does a cab and front clip go for?I will try and get some pics sat.any reason I should keep the frame? Thanks and have a great day

Re: Just 1 more Dear

We towed a truck with a camper to the dump one time and had the loader operator hold the camper with the loader (big cat loader) and towed the truck out from under the camper but you would have to jack this camper up and tow the truck out from under it.

I have cut one old travel trailer into manageable pieces with a sawzall fairly quickly and hauled it to the dump that way stacked in 3- 4 ft wide sections. If it is covered in aluminum you can salvage that and get decent money out of it. Not what your wife wants to see in the driveway but they come apart pretty quickly if you work at it.

Yeah 10-4 on that ,we are gonna strip the alum. off thinking I might just pull the cab and clip off and what ever else I might need then off to the scrap yard.

Re: Just 1 more Dear

What kind of rear end is in it - was it a HO 72 eaton style????? Looks like the stock half ton just on steroids. does not look like the dana s or the 14 bolrt stuff???I have 5.14 gears - and I was wondering if yours buy chance had a 4.10 gear???? - are you going to use the center section -I could really use the gears for my 3800 1951 truck - at least I could go faster than 46 on the interstate.
Thanks Mitch
