LED reverse lights?

I want to replace my reverse lamp bulbs in my 86swb with LED bulbs but don't know which ones to get. I believe I need a 1156 style bulb but don't know where to go from there. Any ideas?

Re: LED reverse lights?

If your expecting it to be brighter it wont be. A regular 1156 bulb is 403 lumens. Try to find a spec on an LED based bulb with those numbers. Trust me you wont.

Re: LED reverse lights?

Here's what I use for my reverse lights in the STOCK location and I also installed a high output L.E.D. lisence plate frame and just hard wired it into my reverse wiring and a ground. When I put the 'burb into reverse, I can now see up to 75 feet behind me. My source for these lights? www.v-leds.com

You can get different bases for the "bulbs" to plug into depending upon your use. I had to install a couple of their "Y" adaptor leads as the leads wern't quite long enough to install in both the lense and the socket at the same time before mounting the lense up. The circuit board is just the right size to get a good snug fit inside the lense.

Here's what they look like installed as well as the lisence frame.

And heres how well the 3 of them light up the area behind the 'burb.
