Crossmember ???

I have a 67 2wd C10 and it already had 5 lug disc brakes when I got it but I didn't notice until last night that they had swapped the control arms , steering linkage and possibly the crossmember too . The question is what is the difference between the stock 67 crossmember and the 73-87 ? Was the stock unit bolted in or riveted in ? Mine is bolted right now . Is there a visual difference ?

Both were bolted in & are interchangeable after re-drilling (hogging out) a couple (two; 1 ea side) of bolt holes that don't line up.

Some guys might swap the entire thing as a unit if the parts were fresh. Others might swap just the parts & re-use their existing x-member if rebuilding it all anyway.

About the only visual clue would be the motor mount towers are different for the 73-87's & the lower a-arm u-bolt diameter increased to 9/16".

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
