Air tank and gas tank? will they both fit!

I was thinking about doing a 70 mustang gas tank(20gal) under my 53, but would like to put a 5 gallon air tank under there too. Anybody have any pics that might help me, or ideas. I think I would have more room with a smaller aluminum fuel cell, but was wanting to save a little money on the tank and have a little bigger tank.

It's amazing how things start to get real 'busy' at the back when you start putting everything together.

I've not got there yet,but my friend installed a 3 gallon air tank and compressor in between the chassis and running board under the drivers side of the cab.

It might be tight with a 5 gallon tank, there's lots of shapes available, it might be worth checking out.
Just thinking.......

yeah no kiddin', I also need room for shock mounts and stabilzer bar mounts. I dont know if the area under the cab would be enough room for a 5 gallon. I might have to go with the aluminum fuel cell due to the different shapes and sizes to leave enough room for the 5 gal tank. I was just trying to save a few bucks so I could spend them somewhere else. I could think of a lot of places I would rather spend more money than on the fuel tank as far as looks go!

I have a fuel cell, two 6.5 gallon air tanks and two air compressors on the back of the frame.

my tanks suck, they are aluminum. Only get steel or SS tanks.

the fuel cell is a summit brand one. With a tanks inc. sump/pump kit.

Just a thought, but if you are putting your fuel tank under the frame. Could you put the air tank behind the seat?
.
Go by a repair shop that services portable air compressors and you can find air tanks of all shapes and sizes.

Yeah, I'd just rather have it under the back. Also might get a little noise from it in there.

Re: Air tank and gas tank? will they both fit!

I understand. They do look cool back there, and there are lots of ways to do them.
I should have mentioned, I did not intend to put the compressor in the cab. During my younger days, we did a lot of off/roading. Everyones rig had air for things like, air assisted suspension to vary ride height and stiffness also to inflate tires. Mudding requires diffrent pressure than rock crawling.
We would put the compressors in the engine compartment where they would be safe from damage, but the reservoir ( tank ) was only limited by your imagination. 3" tubular bumpers, the pipes in the roll cages, etc.

Yeah, I had a buddy that used to used his pipe bumpers on his jeep for air tanks. Pretty good idea, I guess as long as you didnt really use the bumper too hard. lol
