Here's mine. Offy intake and holley 350 2 bbl. Langdon's headers and dual pipes out the back. Offy valve cover and an HEI. Stock 140 horses. Now it's gotta be twice that. At least. Ya right. Not likely. LOL!!!

Re: How much power are you making with your I6

Not much stock on this 250. Unfortunately, my uncle did the engine more than 10 years ago and doesn't remember exactly what he put in it. I know it's bored at least 30 over, a slightly bigger cam, clifford intake, Holley 390, ported head, header into dual exhausts, and HEI. I have no idea what HP it's making, but I sure would love to find someone who can really tune it right. It's never run as strong as I know it can, but it still runs strong enough.

Re: How much power are you making with your I6

I built a 292 to replace the 250 in my 68 GMC 1500. It has so much more torque than the stock engine that it broke both rubber motor mounts.

i dont want to hijack, but i think it would also be nice to see what everyone is doing with the spark plug wires, its kinda an odd thing but im kinda tired of mine being just hanging there and floppy. to me it really dresses up an engine if the plug wires arent floppy...

Re: How much power are you making with your I6

Here's mine.....it's a 250 L6. It has clifford intake and dual shorty headers. It has a 4 barrel eddelbrock carb with electric choke. I have a single flowmaster exhaust dual in single out. The PO had it bored .60 over and the crank has been turned .10. The books say it was 155 HP stock and I know it a bit faster than it was. I like it alot. It has 550 miles on the rebuild and seems to run better every day. Thanks for starting this threadName: finished engine.jpg

kyull67 claims to be making 300hp with his 250, and I believe him! The engine is torn down now waiting for a turbo.

Get you some 1 1/2" tubing, cut it the approx. length of the head, drill holes for each plug wire where it can exit to the plug, have tabs welded to it for mounting, run the wires front to back bringing each wire through the hole to the appropiate plug(be sure to use rubber grommets), install plug boots and be done. This WILL require the use of a custom cut wire kit.

I would look better mounted just below the plugs, with each wire just coming up out of the tube about 1 1/2-2 inches.

I'm in the process of making a similar setup, but for a V8. I can get pics if you need them.

Just some simple wire separators clean up the plug wires a lot.

Re: How much power are you making with your I6

OK here's the pics of what I'm working on. I started with 1" tubing, cut to length, then drilled the holes.(1st pic)

In the second pic, I had a buddy machine a set of plugs to cap the ends off.

3rd and 4th pics, plugs installed.

Last pic is with an 8mm wire run through with a grommet. I drilled 9/16" holes because the NAPA grommets I used were made for a 9/16" hole with a 3/8" opening. I had to use a 3/8" opening because the wire has a tendency to drag and pull the grommet into the tubing. I will be sure to use some kind of lubricant to make the wires slide through the tubing and grommets easier.

All I need to do now is have some mounting tabs made and welded on. They will be mounted through the valve cover mounting holes like most loom setups. The wires will simply just drop down out of the tube to the plug. I plan to do a full write up with photos when completed.
