Re: Stock Jimmy

I bet thats all they have in it,including paint job...Its a bondo bucket...This is one you buy, then get into it..next thing you know, you have over 30k in it...to get it right.. At least if you find an orignal unatempted ,unrestored truck, you can get exactly what you are getting...

This is a butch job..yes, looks ok from 100 feet away...And i bet you cant open the doors with the top off too..Looking at the rear trim panels,wet..there has to be rust in and under it..

This is just my $.02

My '70 used that oil filler tube original but it had a Qjet not a 2 barrel so I can't say about that spacer. Mine did have a spacer on top the 4 barrel tho.

That passenger latch and mount is original to the '70 Jimmy with the CST buckets. I have seen 3 variations of latches. A side pull for utility buckets, a side pull for CST buckets in a little different position and a center latch that you would pull up on a lever. There may have been more variations.

I may be wrong but it almost looks like they did a rather crude job of masking the glove box door sticker then painting rather than getting a new sticker.

It is also possible that the bed is ok. The side panels in mine are as bad or worse than those are but the only rust is a little on the corners of the fenderwell bolt flange.

I think that truck is more like 127,000 miles or more. Not close to what they claim.

Re: Stock Jimmy

This is right down the road from the studio that I work at.....I should go check it out and report in. I have used their cars before in Commercial shoots and they do throw paint jobs on them to unload them. I can't weigh in yet.......the cars I have gotten in the past were decent.....

Re: Stock Jimmy

Doesn't look like the doors are original, may be 72 doors. They have a hole or something below the vent window. Also noticed the mirror arms were painted, pretty sure those should be black. The gage bezel is cracked and the chrome faded or rubbed off on the left side. Passenger seat belt is definitely missing. The carpet was replaced and isn't fit very well either. I'm not sure but the pics with the hatch open show dark spots at the bottom, like they had to cut into the top to get those bolts loose. This thing has waaaay more than 27k on it. That is probably not the original gage cluster.

I have seen way nicer blazers/jimmys for that price or less.

Re: Stock Jimmy

Could you get a 70 350 with a two barrel? I'm wondering if it is really a 307 which would have come with a two barrel carb. I thought the 350's in 70 had quadrajets.

Re: Stock Jimmy

1970 would be a stock standard motor is 307 so no fender emblems..350 was an option and it would have the 350 emblems on the fenders.

I would say its a 307..

Re: Stock Jimmy

It must of had a repaint. The door strikers/catches are painted body color. All of the vehicles I have ever had they are in bare metal and not painted.

Re: Stock Jimmy

I think that it is a decent ride and would be appropriately priced at about $8K. I'd love to see how they arrive at the actual mileage being only 27k. Like others have said, either a speedo change or 127k.
Think they have pics before repaint? noooooooo
Take the top off for a prospective buyer? probably not either...........
It's all in the details, and the things like the door strikers being painted, mismatched marker lights and such just say to me that it is hiding rust......jmo

I think that its super important to document what we build with detailed photos for when our stuff moves on to the next enthausist

You know the old saying, "There is an ass for every seat!" But It's not my ass in that driver seat.
