Question Tranny question for a Suburban

I am buying a 1985 3/4 ton Sub tomorrow and it has a bad 400 turbo in it. I have a 2wd Suburban that has a good 400 turbo. Can I make the 2wd one work for the 4wd truck?? Is it as easy as removing the tailshaft and hooking it up to the 208??

Thanks alot fellas for answering my threads.

Re: Tranny question for a Suburban

the only way you could do it without disassembling the whole transmission is to make the 4wd a 2 wd truck there are different length shafts and beafings in the two transmissions
I learned this the hard way trying to turn a 4wd trans into a 2wd trans

Re: Tranny question for a Suburban

The 2wd tranny is in my 2wd factory 454 sub. It is the Heavy Duty one. Probably doesn't make a difference though.

Oh, it the shortshaft tranny also with the extra deep pan from the factory.
