Heated seat shutting off... what I found...

2004 TAHOE Z71

I've seen alot of talk online about this with little solutions offered so I thought I'd share...

My drivers side heated seat would shut off if the butt warmer was engaged (seat BACK only funtion still worked)

I remove the screws holding the seat position controler, removed the two connectors and set the controler aside...

Then I pushed down on the plastic retainers holding the seat cushion on the left side, front and right side at the bottom of the seat frame.
Then I folded the cushion and cover away from the seat frame.
Next I seperated the leather from the cushion (velcro'd together) and found the seat heating element burnt to a crisp! The element is held down by sticky tape... (try not to take too much foam with it!)

It appears that it wore out from flexing right at the seams of the seat cover.

Here's the part from gmpartsdirect.com....

GM PART # 88940288
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $138.85
OUR PRICE: $80.73

Guess I will be ordering that now and will let y'all know how it works!

Looks like you are lucky that your butt didn't get really warm!
