Diesel swap
Just wondering if anyone out there has every swapped in a diesel motor into one of these trucks? Me and my dad were just throwing around ideas after seeing a 76 gmc with a 453 detroit, just thought that a 6V92 in a 70 C/10 would be pretty bad ass. Any thoughts or pictures would be awesome.

I highly doubt that engine would fit even even with alot of modifications i just did a tune up on one and there pretty hefty

Not to say it wouldn't take alot of work, but it would sure turn some heads if you could ever make it work. That screamin' jimmy has a sound all too its own. Just wasn't sure if it had been done. Here is the link to the other one

You do know a 6V92 weighs a ton, I mean actually weighs a ton.... oh and is 4 feet tall.

After doing some research, the biggest motor you can put in there is a 6v53, and it can fit, but its pretty tight. It is do-able, but would take a couple of weekends to get it put in, oh and probably a allison automatic to bolt up behind. There is a few video's on youtube if you guys are wanting to check them out.

I know you were talking about a Detroit, but I have seen a Cummins 6 cylinder in a 68 chevy 4x4 3/4 ton. To get enough depth in the engine bay, they put together a one piece front end so they could eliminate the core support and bump the radiator/intercooler out some. Looked pretty fun.
I have heard of folks putting the 4 cylinder Cummins version in. This would fit a lot better. Nothing like the torque of a diesel.....
