heater pics

Could anyone post pics of the propper installation of a heater?
The actual heater box with the fan on it. My truck does not have A/C, I think it is the recirculating type heater. When I bought the truck the heater was in the bed with a bunch of junk. I took it apart, cleaned it up and painted it. Now I'm not really sure how it bolts back in. Any help would be great!

Re: heater pics

Kinda hard to get pics of the setup under the dash, but here it is from the front. I'll take some upside down pics when I get home if no one else has some already.

Re: heater pics

We should prob establish, what year, make etc your truck is first and then go from there. The one in my pic above is a 66 chevy with the deluxe heater and no factory air.

Re: heater pics

Mine is a 61 chevy. I am not sure about the heater type. Recirculating, possibly? With no factory air.

Re: heater pics

This picture is probably not good enough, but it's all I have right now. Mine is a '63, and the core crapped out on it once. I couldn't find ANYONE who had a replacement. The catalog heater cores were all different, the parts stores couldn't order anything like it, it was a strange deal. It had to do with the way the hose connections came out of the housing. I ended up having a radiator guy fix it for me. But anyway, I know mine is original to the truck, so there are different styles out there than the ones that you see all the time. Mine is the Deluxe heater with the four control levers. FWIW

Re: heater pics

From 1963 Chevrolet Feature Accessories Book. My question to you would be if your heater controls on the dash have 2 black knobs or 4? Your heater looks like a recirculating type heater that mounts under the dash. Do you have a block off plates on the cowl?

Re: heater pics

Post #5 on the attached thread shows the same type recirculating (economy) heater used in my 1960 GMC.

And here’s another thread showing how they look from the firewall side – posts #5 & 6.

Re: heater pics

YES! Thats it! I have two levers on the dash, and my heater is the same as the economy recirculating unit. I have been foolin around with this problem for a month or so now. With the cold weather coming I was starting to worry. Thanks to everyone! You guys are great!
