Re: need help guys

I like the long beds personally. However it looks like that is a no ac truck. What about running gear. Big block, small block? How many miles? Transmission, is it o/d or 3 speed. Also, the seat doesn't match? Not sure if it is worth 7k. But ultimately it is up to you.

Re: need help guys

New paint always makes me nervous, are they hiding something?

If that's a quality paint job there is probably almost $7,000 in body work and paint. That is a clean nice looking truck.

Re: need help guys

Is it from Canada, and still rust free?
I always use a new work truck as a point of reference. A new Silverado work truck with A/C, power window/locks/remote can be had for about $17,000 U.S. dollars(sometimes less). So, would you spend an additional $10K for worry free driving for the next 3 years, and probably 50% better gas mileage? Most likely even a nice truck like this will continue to need repairs for years to come - just based on the old age of the truck - things just break/wear out over time.

i dont really care for the truck although it seems nice. Its obviously built to the owners spec so it would be hard to resell unless you have his same taste. I feel the truck is priced a little too high for a lwb.. JUST my opinion..

Re: need help guys

I'd say it's a good deal for here in Canada. I've seen trucks in that shape going for $10-15,000, so thats a steal. Provided the body work was not a hack job, which it looks like it was a decent job done. Plus what engine is in it? Has the drivetrain been rebuilt? whats the mileage? Is he asking $7000 as is or safetied. If it's a V8, and decent mileage on the drivetrain, I would offer him $6000, and if he's firm on $7000, ask for $7000 safetied.

Re: need help guys

If your willing to over look the fact that its a long box, I'd say thats a great deal! Like I said offer $6000 see if he takes it, if he's firm on $7000 ask him to safety it.

But just know that the government is out to screw you when you go to have it put in your name, because the truck is over 20 years old you'll have to have it appraised, and you'll end up paying taxes in which ever is higher, the amount you payed for it or the appraisal.

x2

Trucks are more expensive here than in the USA period. Try checking it for shoddy bondo work if you can, if you can't tell (like me most of the time) take it to someone you know.

New paint job here in Alberta is easily over $7,000 though.

Re: need help guys

If you want a swb hold out for that. No matter how nice it is or what you do to make it nicer....it will never be a swb. It may cost you more or not be as nice but it will be what you want. Also, as mentioned before that truck was done to the owner's taste quite a bit. Some of which isn't easily redone. As far as value I can't really help since I don't live in Canada.

Out of curiosity, how hard is it to get things shipped/titled from US to Canada?

Pretty easy actually. In 2008 I bought a 2007 Avalanche and a (cough) 2006 Ford King Ranch Crew Cab dually. You just have to do the paperwork ahead of time and then about a month of waiting for inspections and paperwork to get it on the road here.
