Anyone have this prob??

anyone have a prob with aftermarket valve covers not clearing the A/C compressor? i am not sure if mine has enough room for any other type of covers besides stock...I would like to get some diff ones, but dont want to go to the trouble of a diff bracket and belt for the comp...or does mine just have a crazy set-up??

Now dont laugh at my ugly engine..i am in the process of cleaning it up..

you can barely see the clearance, but its about 1/2 inch or so

The alternator also will be a problem with tall valve covers on these trucks.

I had the Eldebrock signiture covers on the old Longhorn when i bought it. The A/C compressor was still mounted,a nd it did clear the cover. However, there was the rear bracket missing, and I have no idea where it was, nor why it was removed. This may be the reason. But I know the signiture series cover will in fact fit under the compressor.
Blazer1970 is right too....the drivers cover had been dimpled to clear. A longer belt would have solved this though.

I had that problem, but it was due to the fact that I had TALL valve covers. What you need to find is the aftermarket SHORT valve covers.
