Ridgid impact drive from home depot

Any one has it? used it?

I have been messing with the idea of getting one for simple jobs sure its 1/4" driver but ive seen the Makitas in action and they are pretty damn good and Ridgids warranty and money back policy i cant resist.

Re: Ridgid impact drive from home depot

If it is half as good as the DeWalt one I have you'll wonder how you lived without it.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with the Ridgid. From the reviews I've seen say good things though. The only complaints I've really seen are about the battery life. Although those who complain about that seem to be doing more with them then what they are meant for.

I say do it. They are handy for a lot of stuff. Make jobs go a lot quicker.

I have a Makita, 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Impact Driver
Model: BTD141Z, I can promise you it is bad to the bone. The only drawback is that it won't fit in tight spaces. At the time that i bought it Makita had a promotion on their website that allowed me to get another tool free by sending in my UPC label and receipt. I got a free recip. saw. I would highly recommend this one if it fits your needs.

Re: Ridgid impact drive from home depot

Concerning the Ridgid battery driver, I have heard a rumor the the batteries are lifetime warrantied. Any conformation? I spend way too much on DeWalt batteries. I love my DeWalt tools, but need a $75 battery or two every other year it seems.

Re: Ridgid impact drive from home depot

I will have o check...i do know that they offer a 90 day satisfaction guarrantee and a 3 year limited warranty and theres also a choice for a lifetime service agreement but i dont know if every item is covered like the charger, battery and such...still to me it seems pretty good, i would pound the drill till it gives up pretty much

Still i browsed around and the battery seems to be no more than $40, $29 from ridgid plus shipping i guess

I haven't tried it on lug nuts yet. I did use it to remove rusty bolts/nuts on a 40 sedan field car while loading it on the trailer and it had no problem breaking loose the springs on the springs or axle.

Re: Ridgid impact drive from home depot

Welli bought it, its pretty nice looking, comes with its carry on bad, dont know if others do as well but anyways it zings pretty damn fast, it advertises more torque compared to the Dewalt and pretty much same speeds as Makita tried it of wheel nuts and it wont take them off it still bangs it pretty good though, ill try it for other stuff if it doesnt do the job ill take it back 90 day customer satisfaction is pretty good for trying tools out.

Re: Ridgid impact drive from home depot

Is it an impact driver or impact wrench? The impact driver is built to do just as it sounds, drive things. We use our impact driver when building things, working on remodels, and the like. It is great for driving long screws as the impact action slows the speed down at the end so you can sink the screw exactly as you desire. I also like it a lot for tapcons, with a standard driver I break a good 30% of them but I rarely break a tapcon with my impact driver.
I have never used mine as an impact wrench, the speed may be a bit fast for that, but if it works for that job too, why not?

Re: Ridgid impact drive from home depot

If you sit and let that thing hammer on bigger bolts you will destroy it. Its designed for small stuff and works great for that. Its awesome for running long bolts or screws in and then you can final torque by hand or break stuff loose by hand and bring them off with the gun. It works great for what its designed for.

I just picked up a 18V ryobi 1/2"

http://www.ryobitools.com/catalog/po...s_drivers/P260

Best part was it was free....

Home Depot has a Ryobi special...I bought a $249.99 combo kit and was able to grab a seperate ryobi unit up to a $99 value instantly for no charge.....

Yeah the 18v Ryobi for $99 is definitely worth the bill. I have the other Ryobi tools( drill, flashlight, saw and recip) and this thing get used all the time. just used it today out back stealing some rims and tires off of one project to roll another project, sure beat draggin out 150 feet of air lines.
