Need advice on 69 K10
So i bought this pickup from California off of Craigslist, I'm located in Nevada. The title, plates, registration, and insurance are all up to date and correct, but the guy i purchased it from was redoing alot on the truck, for iexample it has has a 454 crate, 6" lift, new steel cowl hood from LMC, newer doors, newer bench seat, new interior, etc. for whatever reason the VIN tags aren't riveted on, but everything matches and he clearly had it registered in CA hence the plates are still good for another 9 months. is it possible that anyone could tell me or show a picture on how the VIN tags are mounted from the factory?
As stated everything matches and was legally registered, plated, titled, and insured in CA, i just have to put the tags on because NV is really strict. any input is greatly appreciated Last edited by K10Dream69; 12-17-2010 at 01:58 PM. |

The stock vin is in the door frame, but it uses weird rivets and i'm away from all my vehicles for a few weeks.
Oh, and the burb forum doesn't get that much traffic, so if you post this in the 67-72 pickup forum you'll get more help.

You will need to contact your local dept. of lic. Each state have differant rules. In Wash. it has to be inspected. You should get a noterized letter from the previous owner stating that the vin plate was removed for painting or body work.
I will move this to the pickup forum for you.

Re: Need advice on 69 K10
I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Does Nevada actually physically look at the VIN plate? If it's riveted on, I don't see the problem. The factory rivets look like little stars and occasionally someone sells them on the parts for sale, but I wouldn't think that the state of Nevada could tell the difference.

Re: Need advice on 69 K10
Thanks for the replies! escpecially the pictures, that's where I thought they went but just wanted to make sure, i ended up purchasing a pair of the rosette rivets but they don't look like yours, hmm. I know he ordered the grille from LMC, as far as the bumper is the only difference the lights? what year would my bumper be from?
this won't be an original show truck in any means, but i'm just hoping to build a badass pickup that I can have as long as i'm around, then pass down to the next generation. |
