33"s on without lift
Are there any issues with running 33 inch tires on a 72 4x4 without a lift? I was thinking on going from a 265/75-16 to a 285. Seems like it should fit with little to no mod. If anyone has any pics of this type of setup it would help greatly.

Re: 33"s on without lift
I have 33's on a non-lifted 67 4x4. I originally had 33x15x12's and they rubbed, 33x15x8's are on now and I have no problem. You should have no issue with a 72.

You had me scratching my head for a minute there. I was thinking "Who makes a 15" wide tire?!" The 265 would probably be the way to go. It is ever so slightly shorter, but where the 285 is a 12.5" width tire, the 265 is a 10.5". So if you ever flex it out, the tires won't rub when turning. Just my thought.

Re: 33"s on without lift
305/75s are 12.50/33s,which measure closer to 32.5, and they will fit with no lift. With 8" rims will clear best. 10" will let them rub some. 285/75s are about 32.5" tall and about 10.00 wide. The tread width is about 8.25. They will work out better. Have you considered the BFG M/Ts in 255/85? They are right about 33 and closer to 9" wide.

Re: 33"s on without lift
Before the resto my Blazer ran 33x12.5 on 15x8 wagonwheel rims w/ very minor rubbing only at full steering lock.

Not to jack the thread but....
CG ~ That's a gorgeous truck! The 33's fill the wheel wells nicely and I dig the wheel and cap combo!

Re: 33"s on without lift
Hey thanks, but trust me my truck looks about 100 times better in this pic than it does IRL =)

Re: 33"s on without lift
Yea I have ran 33's with no lift on newer stuff and only had them rub occasionally haha. Think you should be fine unless your extreme offroading it.
