Question on bolting bed wood to frame???

Can I bolt the cross sills to the frame without going through the bed wood in those eight locations? Then all of the other bolts would still hold the bed wood in place and I would not have to drill any holes. It also seems like it is a cleaner look without those eight bolts and washers. I have a '65 short bed fleetside.

You're wanting to just run a bolt between the frame and the thin sheet metal on the cross member that rest on the frame?

"Thin sheet metal"? I am suggesting on the places where the cross sills bolt to the frame of the truck (6 I believe)...not drilling a hole in the wood and not running the bolt through the wood.

That topic was discussed at length here and there were a lot of good ideas: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...light=bolt+bed
