Lowered 71

My first post here. I have been looking for a 71 or 72 Cheyenne. Not having much luck so far.

I'm currently considering (have not seen it yet) a 71 that has been lowered six inches in the front and four inches in the rear. How would this normally be done? I want the stock ride height so I will have to try to undue what has been done if I purchase this truck. Only thing is, I'm not sure what has been done. Would drop spindles normally be used? The truck has coil springs front and rear.

Welcome to the forum 67RS/SSx2. If the truck has been lowered 6/4 it should have a LOT of rake to it. Regardless, the most common way to lower the front is springs and/or spindles. The spindles are usually 2.5 or 3" depending on brand. The springs could be stock units that are cut, aftermarket lowering springs or heated stockers. Lets hope that its not heated coils, as the springs are now junk.

You know when I read the 6"/4" in the ad I thought that sounded odd since the truck appears level now and in stock form the rear is higher than the front. Now that you point that out and I think about it you are right, a 6/4 drop would have the front bumper on the ground and the rear in the air LOL.

Looking at the lowering illustrations in the LMC catalog, I'm guessing it has a 1" drop in front and a 3" drop in the rear. Truck looks pretty level now, just a bit on the low side. Hopefully that just means it has lowering or modified springs.
