Re: T5 Swap Done.

Another good bit of information! I was thinking the only way to get an OD transmission with a mechanical clutch was with a FY6.

Thunder71:
Yes they make a converter to go from a mechanical speedo to an electronic transmission, but it is very expensive. Here's one for your reference at $320:

With the cost of the converter, it would be easier to find a T5 with a mechanical speedo hook up from the mid 80's.

I used the Hamilton T5 plate, got a 14 spine 10" s10 clutch plate, and used a 78-81 2 door malibu drive shaft with 1 1\4 inch took out of it. Cut the drive shaft ourselves. Never again will I pay to have it done. Stuck it back in the truck and put a indicator on it and got it running true and started welding. But the straight 6 and T5 is awesome. Ive ran it probably 6-700 miles in 2 weeks. Parked my Nissan and been driving to work everyday. Here is a few pics I took today at lunch at a old rail yard.

Dude, your truck is perfect...

Re: T5 Swap Done.

Cool man, nice job, I can imagine the T5 makes the 6 banger fun and econmoical. I might locate one this year and do that next winter, it looks to be a pretty straight forward swap.

If you haven't seen it yet, this is one of the best write-ups on the t-5 that I've seen....

Re: T5 Swap Done.

schwinn68- I did an NV3500 swap into my 63 C10 with a 292. it was fairly simple to mount the clutch master cylinder on the firewall, and it is nice having a smooth hydralic clutch. here is the link to my installation http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=407167&page=2

Looks like your tranny swap was a success! it makes it much more fun to drive getting to grab two more gears!

Sailed2Japan- are you on a landcruiser forum also? like ih8mud?

I've always wondered - is there any way to use a 60-62 stock master cylinder (that has the integral clutch slave cylinder) to provide the hyd power for a newer trans with hyd clutch? (I do realize that the newer trans are hyd throwout bearings and that the 60-62 is a hdy slave to mech linkage to a non-hyd throwout bearing, but just curious).
