Two perches per side on RR axle??//?

I just bought a 1974 3/4T chevy 2wd truck. It has a C14BFF
rear axle. (Im pretty sure) it has TWO PERCHES per side on it.
The leaf spring are mounted on the innermost ones, they look added (minor rust and A- welding) the outer two are still painted
and Factory A+ welding. WHAT THE HELL , over? DID THEY REPLACE IT WITH A 1TON AXLE OR SOMETHING WITCH HAS A WIDER STANCE? BARTAMOS IS CURIOUS IN AZ.

It could be that the rear end is from a G30 Van.

Is there anything better or worse about it if it is, besides the extra purch or are all 14bff basically the same. it does not seem to be overall wider just that the frame/shackles must be wider
on bigger trucks/vans???

I don't know what the C14BFF stands for, But I would bet the axle was once on an earlier 4x4, which has narrower spring width.
It sure won't hurt anything, but it blows the original equipment theory all to heck.

corporate 14 bolt full floating c14bff. Anyway, the purches that are used on the truck now are the INNER ones so whatever its off of is wider. Thats what Im thinking. Thanks for the post.
A G30 is a good bet, that Came from RockHQ.

any chance of you posting a picture?

I agree sounds like it was off a van or heavy duty truck or maybe a later model (92+?) truck...

it should be the correct width no matter what.. I cant think of any vehicle that had a special width 14FF

Great Idea. Ill do it tomorrow. will you please watch for it?
I want to sell all the stuff off the truck including the FF so I need to know what to say to someone except "spare perches?"
Im going to crawl under the next G30 I see and measure the
spring to spring distance to see if it matches the "outer" set
of perches.
