Re: 6 Lug on Camaro Clip

I think I may have worked out way around my quest of running six lug.
"Could I please have some input if anyone knows if I have overlooked something"
Ok here goes, I have worked out via 2nd gen Camaro forums that a common brake upgrade is running 12" spindles,Calipers & redrilled or (LE1 Rotors). Doner cars such as: Buick Full Size- Le Sabre Wagon / Electra Wagon 1977-1994; Cadillac Fleetwood and Deville 1977-1984 // Brougham and Fleetwood 1985-1994; Chevy Full Size 1977-1996 Caprice, Impala, Belair, Biscayne;
Olds Delta 88, Delta 88 Wagon and Olds 98 1977-1992; Pontiac Full Size Bonneville, Catalina, Grandville 1977-1986

This swap is made easy because bearings, ball joints & tie rods are interchangeable. Now if I was to go with the 72 to pre 77 Full size 12" spindles they actually use C10 rotors (A5 bearing 1.25") I could then use 6L rotors from CPP. Apart from a larger lower BJ (6141) "which I can get around" & tie rod end this type spindle should work??
My basic question is are the early spindles same as the 77 up apart from bearing size, lower BJ hole & tie rod hole? If I'm missing something please let me know? Cheers!

Re: 6 Lug on Camaro Clip

One more thing to look into would maybe be newer Astro van rotors. Saw one in a parking lot yesterday and noticed it was 6 lug.

I have looked into the Astro van but judging by the pictures the hub depth looks too shallow.

I have a contact at Timken that is willing to help research an "interchange" bearing for your existing 77 Camaro spindle. What I need to know is what is the original application of the 6 lug rotor you will be using so that we can figure out the bearing/race sets and corresponding dimensions.

That would be great thanks. Anyway my plan is to use spindles, calipers, rotors that I can get here off a 73 Olds custom cruiser. It uses #5006R heavy duty 1.25" rotor which is the same part as C10 71-87 application.
Bearings listed for both are front outer BR3 Cone radius=.0500"; Width=.690"; Standout=.1400"; Outside diameter=1.9687"; Inside diameter=.8437"; Cup radius=.0500"; Cup length=.5500"; Cone length=.7200IN
Front inner:BR5 Width=.710"; Standout=.1600"; Outside diameter=2.5630"; Inside diameter=1.3750"; Cup radius=.0500"; Cup length=.5500"; Cone radius=.1400"; Cone length=.7200IN

Then purchase the six lug conversion rotors for a C10 71-87 from CPP & if my theory is correct that should work? My main concern is if the 73 (B/body) full size car spindle is the same as the 77 up 12" rotor( B/body) I know those spindles definitely bolt in between the the camaro A arms, its a common 2nd gen upgrade.
The differences I have worked out from early to late 70s spindles are the stub size for the bearings, "which is what I need for the Cpp rotors) Lower balljoint is differnent "that can be worked out" & tie rod which shouldn't be a big issue. As for the rest of the dimensions I'm not sure about, I dont have the two to compare.
