Moser axles and 71-72 brake drums.

Re: Axel swap 6 to 5 bolt ?

idk alot about it but somehow by either calling them or maybe printing it up off of their website u get a form that u write measurments down on like from end to end of the axel and from end to end of the rearend and they will make you a set to fit ur truck

These are the 5-lug axles.

You can also buy them from ECE.
(you will have to click the drop down tab, under "axles")

Re: Axel swap 6 to 5 bolt ?

Or if you have a, or acess to a good drill press a little common sense and a bit of patience you can knock out your six old lugs and redrill them (hubs) to 5 lug.

The center hub of the axle would have to be machined down also.
I'm not sure a drill press would be accurate enough.
Maybe on a mill.
But at least 1 lug hole would have to be welded shut.

Re: Axel swap 6 to 5 bolt ?

I was wondering the same thing about just swapping axels. The new LMC book shows axels for 70 and 71-72 for 149 a piece. The difference is the length. I will call and find out if these will work.

1970 was a "transition year" for GM.
You could get the narrower 67-69 width rearend or the wider 71-72 width rearend in 6-lug.
My '70 has the wider rearend.
My '69 has the narrow rearend.
If you need axles for a '70 model truck,... you will need to measure the length of them before you order their 5-lug replacements.
