shaved door handles...
I have been kicking around the idea of doing the shaved door handle kit on my truck with electric poppers. Does anyone have a write up on them doing this to their truck? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: shaved door handles...
I thought about it many times but I like to be able to get into my ride when the battery is dead Otherwise, wire them in with an aux motorcycle AGM-type battery that is trickled through the charging system. Then it might be a worthwhile mod. Kinda neat.

Re: shaved door handles...
how would you get looked out if your battery is dead. Just pop the hood, and the battery is right there

Re: shaved door handles...
This is the exact reason I am kicking this idea around. I got the filler panels for a great price so I am going to do it... Just never done it before and wanted to see some shots of it being done and working!!!

Re: shaved door handles...
I just got all my truck shaved. We used a old door for a filler panel for the doors.

Re: shaved door handles...
I did mine. Just clean down to the bare metal, spray something on the back of your filler peices so they wont rust, and be carefull welding them in so you dont warp your door(Ive done this before and it sucks). Tack welding is how i did it. Go to youtube and type in how to shave door handles. I found a few good vids on it when i did mine. Good luck! DONT GET YOUR DOOR TO HOT!!!

Re: shaved door handles...
You mean poppers as in the electric solenoid? Or the actual spring that will push the door open?

Re: shaved door handles...
Concerns about locking yourself out can be solved by simply adding a manual cable from the latch through one of the doors. Similar to the hood release on newer cars. I've seen emergency manual door releases under the hood or inside the fender area. Several manufactures sell a kit for a professional setup but can be easily done if you use your head.
