Re: 31 gal GM tank
I "think" 72 was the last year for the small 21 gal tank...31gal should be 73 and up...I think

Re: 31 gal GM tank
This is the second Blazer I have owned with one of these tanks and both were 72. Last one I had to replace Pep Boys sold a universal. They dont carry them anymore. I can find several universals on summit but they are different ohms. Not sure what ohms I need to buy. I seen earlier that the sending unit should be 0-90 these are 33-240 and 10-180. Dont know if any of these will work

Re: 31 gal GM tank
I'm pretty sure that the 90 ohm is strictly for the stock guage. It might not be too far off on your new tank, depends on how deep it is. JC Whitney also sells some universal sending units, might look there.

Re: 31 gal GM tank
Wait...I'm confused. Is this the 31 gallon tank you are talking about, one from a 73+ suburban/blazer that has been put into your 72? If so, isn't this what you need???

Re: 31 gal GM tank
Not sure where the first one came from it was in my blazer when I got it. Now I have another blazer and found a tank from another 72 and I'm going to install it when I find a sending unit. Then I can continue with my tbi upgrade. Thanks for the help.

Re: 31 gal GM tank
Thanks for the info Critter it helped my determine that I don't have a 73 and up tank. This tank almost looks home made. But I have ran across two of these so far so I wouldn't think they were home made. They are totally square and take just a generic 5 bolt sending unit. So my hunt is still on for a sending unit. Any help is appericiated

Re: 31 gal GM tank
Glad I could help. I'm pretty sure I'm familiar with the type of tank you are talking about. They seem to be an aftermarket/dealer installed tank to help get more miles from a fill-up. My buddy Jtrux has one on his blazer if I'm not mistaken. Pretty sure a thread popped up about them a few months ago, but I can't remember the details.
